What to Bring

  • A dark pencil and eraser
  • A single double-sided sheet of notes (Letter or A4 size). Notes can be typed or handwritten.
  • Know your Stanford ID number

During the Exam

  • For multiple-choice questions, bubble in your answers completely and darkly—this is computer-graded. If you change your answer, erase thoroughly.
  • Show your work for free-response questions.
  • Keep all pages intact, and don’t tear anything out—the exams are scanned in batches by a computer.
  • We won’t be responsible for any missing pages, so if there are any, please tell us before the exam starts.
  • The exam is double-sided, so remember to check both the front and back of each page.
  • Only write in the boxes provided for answers. If you run out of space, make it clear you’ve continued on the blank pages at the end.
  • Time management tip: try not to spend too much time on one problem. As a general guideline, try to pace yourself by spending no more minutes than the points are worth on each question. For example, you might aim to spend around 2 minutes on a 2-point question. However, feel free to adjust your pace as needed.
  • CAs will be sitting outside the exam rooms if you have any clarification questions. We can help with clarifications but not with anything content-related.

Post-Exam

After completing your exam, we will have a physical signing sheet outside the room, which we will ask you to sign on to acknowledge that you have taken and submitted your exam. Please make sure to physically “sign out” on our paper when submitting your exam to the CAs. There will be multiple sign out sheets to reduce crowding and wait times, each corresponding to a range of last names. Failure to do either of these might result in misplacement of your exams, which the teaching team is not responsible for!

Please don’t discuss the exam with anyone until grades are out.

Other Important Notes

  • Ed will be disabled during the exam until everyone has finished.
  • There will be no office hours on 11/6 Wednesday.
  • Stick to the Honor Code by referring to the Honor Code section on our course website.

OAE Students

If you have OAE exam accommodations, you should have already received an email about your exam location and time. If you have not received an email from us, please make a private post on Ed ASAP.

SCPD/CGOE Students

Unless you have requested and have been approved to take the exam on campus, you will need to arrange to take the exam with an exam monitor (approved by SCPD/CGOE Exams team). SCPD/CGOE students have a 24 hour window (starting from the main exam time-11/6 6pm PT) to choose their time-stamped 3 hours exam time to take/complete the exam with their exam monitor. If you have any questions about this process, please reach out to the scpd exams team (scpd-exams@stanford.edu).
